As from today I have stopped accepting Russian coins. You can still send your Russian banknotes.
The pandemic has been bad for the Russian Rouble and it has lost about 25% of its value in the last 6 months. At the same time shipping costs have increased greatly. My currency is sent in the holds of passenger aircraft and far fewer are flying so shipping rates have gone up.
This means that the currency value is less than shipping cost.
I am still accepting Turkish Lira coins but I am not sure how long this will continue as the Lira is going down in value fast.
And finally the Spanish Peseta exchange period finishes at the end of 2020. I am planning to send my final batch to the Central Bank in Madrid at Christmas just before the deadline closes. This is subject to change due COVID restrictions. The Peseta will have no exchange value in 2021.
In all cases this highlights that if you want to exchange your old coins and notes it is better to do it as soon as you can. You snooze you loose.
