How long does it take to receive payment?
We aim to send you payment within 5 days of our receving your currency.
When payment is sent by Paypal payments are instant, bank transfers take 1 day to be received and cheques up to 3 days by second class post.
How much will I receive?
When you checkout with the wallet a receipt is produced showing the currency being exchanged and the exchange value.
On receipt we verify the currency to confirm the receipt matches the currency. These exchange rates on the receipt are then fixed for you for 14 days so regardless of exchange movements this is what we will pay.
How Does it Work?
Start at the exchange rates page and click on the country for your currency. This will take you to the coins and notes page. If you select again this will take you to the individual notes or coins. These can then be added to your wallet and when you have added all your currency go up to the wallet to log in or open an account. Add details of who you are and how you would like to be paid and when this is complete an email will be sent with a tender number to include when you post the currency to us.
How much or little can I send?
There is no minimum amount you can send however for payment by cheque the exchange value must be more than £10.
There is no maximum amount however for single notes with an exchange value of more than £100 and for collections which exchange for more than £1000 we require a copy of your photo ID to and sometimes more details to comply with Money Laundering Regulations (see Terms and Conditions).
Do I need a printer to use your service?
No, simply pop a note in with your currency giving your name and the reference number from the top right of your exchange sheet. This will allow us to match up your details to your package.
Do I have to sort my currency?
No, you can send mixed currency and obsolete coins and we will sort this out and complete the exchange form for you. Just add mixed currency on exchange form and we will do the rest.
Is it safe to post my currency?
Postal losses in the UK are very low with reports indicating losses of around 0.1% (1 in 1000 items). To ensure that your currency arrives safely good packing will help.
For a small number of banknotes these can be slipped inside an old greetings card or other card item (Pizza menu etc) to protect it and placed in an envelope.
Coins should not be sent standard letter post as these go through the automatic sorting machines which can tear letters. Either send these in a thick letter which can be up to 25mm thick to be accepted at the large letter rate or a parcel. Coins can be taped to card or taped into rolls or bags. The contents should not rattle when finished, scrunched up paper can be a handy filler to pack out a parcel.
Use tape to strengthen any seals or edges as the sorting process can be rough and involve items being dropped off conveyors into collection bins perhaps many times. Parcel tape is better than sellotape.
We recommend using a tracked or signed for delivery service. The address should be FME not Foreign Money Exchange so the contents are not obvious.
