How FME Began
The plan was to use the pile of loose change I had built up over the holiday for dinner while waiting for my flight home.
It was a great plan but when I got the bill I was a dollar short, so I ended up paying with more notes and got even more coins in change. I got home put the coins and notes in a draw and forgot about them.
Fast forward 3 years and after a career as a Chartered Accountant and also in the City of London which involved transactions in most currencies from around the world I was told in 2009 that I was no longer needed.
Exchanging My Old Currencies
With time on my hands and no money now coming in I went back to the drawer of old currency and thought that this must be worth something.
My bank exchanged a couple of notes but most were old paper types and current notes were now polymer so they refused most of them.
I left dissappointed and following some research found out that the currency was still exchangeable if only I could get it back to its home country. With some effort I got the currency exchanged.
Buying & Selling Currencies
I moved on to buying all types of mixed banknotes and coins and redeeming the exchangeable and selling the rest into the collectors and craft market around the world.
This was all through word of mouth contacts and recommendations and with this firm base and several years of currency experience behind me I am now offerring this service to the public.
